He gave him also a young horse, 'fit for riding,' when he commenced 'Master;' and the memorandum he compiled (Nov 21, 1725) of the debts and legacies due out of his father's estate accredits him with an inheritance amounting to L460 17s2d. Cutter Family of New England, pp 55. The Reverend Ammi Ruhamah Cutter, first pastor of the church, was the founder of a numerous family in North Yarmouth through his sons William and Samuel. His first-born son, and namesake was the famous Doctor Cutter of Portsmouth, the physician-general of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. The Cutter family came from Cambridge(Massachusetts) where it was established as early as 1640. The local family through the marriage of the Reverend Mr. Cutter to Dorothy Bradbury are also descendants of the Reverend John Wheelwright, whose blood also flows in the veins of the Larrabees, Soules, Bradburys, Truesand other Old North Yarmouth families.
